Cat Forestry Products New Cabs

For Immediate Worldwide Release, January 2009

Cat Forest Products recently announced updates to the cab on the track feller buncher line, including the Cat® 511, 521, 522, 532, 541, 551, and 552. The changes improve operator comfort and safety and machine durability.

* A full-size sliding window on the left side of the cab allows more fresh air into the cab.
* The escape hatch above the operator’s head has a new quick release latch system to allow fast exit in an emergency. The operator just grabs and flips the latch to pop the escape hatch open.
* The window mounting brackets and hardware have been strengthened to prevent damage from falling debris, and the design simplified to eliminate potential leaks into the cab. The sheet metal of the HVAC filter intake cover was also strengthened and thickened to prevent damage.
* The work lights have stronger guards and steel bar protectors to prevent breakage and improve illumination of the work area.

The new Caterpillar® 938H wheel loader and IT38H with integrated toolcarrier linkage feature the Cat® C6.6 engine with ACERT® Technology for responsive power and low emissions. The new engine, differential lock system, load sensing hydraulics and increased lift and tilt forces deliver high performance in digging and material handling applications while limiting engine emissions to meet US EPA Tier 3 off-highway emissions regulations and worldwide emissions standards.

The loaders also have new features that aid machine health monitoring and service. The in-cab Messenger display provides real time machine performance, engine and diagnostic data to help maximize productivity and component life. The hydraulic and electrical service centers group service points and offer easy access from ground level to limit service downtime. Cat Product Link is standard on the new loaders. The system provides two-way information flow between the machine and Caterpillar dealer and to the owner’s desktop computer through the online dealer storefront.

Machine Monitoring Systems

November 10th, 2007 by moresnow | No Comments | Filed in Technology

Many construction manufacturers are starting to move down the path to create GPS / Diagnostic services which they are reselling with their equipment.  Currently all the big players seem to offer this but outside of new OEM products there are limited offerings. It would be nice to see other manufacturers provide this. Could it be that not enough organizations have the capability or are there barriers for their entry.
