Simformation works closely with Caterpillar to produce next-generation heavy-equipment simulators

MORTON, Jun 30, 2009 (Journal Star - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) — Along with a range of heavy-duty machines, Caterpillar Inc. also has been busy rolling out a line of simulators that allow one to experience what it’s like to operate a motor grader or excavator.

The Morton company that’s handling the building, marketing and distribution of these simulators is Simformotion, a division of CSE Software.

Simformotion entered into an agreement in 2008 with Caterpillar regarding the handling of simulators, but the two companies are hardly strangers. CSE has worked on Caterpillar software since 1993, said CSE President Ken Pflederer.

Amazing footage from a crane collapse today in New Dehli India. The First crane has catastrophic structural failure and then the 2nd and third fall in. Very troubling.

Stunning Brilliant Robotic Grapple

For many operators of equipment out there this is a mix of way too much coffee, redbull, and powerful computing. There is around 15 tonnes of steel, 200 bar of hydraulic pressure and a control system written in Python. Oh, and a Wiimote.

The machines can spin around about 72km per hour.
