The Ditch Witch^®JT3020 All Terrain features all terrain technology, one of the Ditch Witch organization’s many patented innovations designed to simplify the HDD process. One of the company’s breakthrough innovations was the slant-faced drill bit, which revolutionized the industry by enabling HDD operators to steer the drill head. All Terrain technology improves upon the steering process with a patented dual-drive pipe system, which enables the JT3020 All Terrain to drill and steer at the same time. This is an advantage over single-rod systems, which are not capable of steering as well, if at all, in consolidated soils. The inner pipe of the JT3020 All Terrain’s two-pipe drill string continuously turns the drill bit at 150 to 400 RPM, depending on the soil, resulting in exceptionally efficient boring.

Caterpillar announces the release of the CB54, CB54 XW and CB64 asphalt compactors. The CB54, with 1700 mm (67″) wide drums, provides a high static force and competes in the 8 - 11.3 metric ton class of asphalt compactors at 10 804 kg (23,818 lb). The CB54 XW, with 2000 mm (79″) wide drums, is designed for wider lane paving and also competes in the 8 - 11.3 metric ton class of asphalt compactors at 11 898 kg (26,230 lb). The CB64, with 2130 mm (84″) wide drums, is designed for wide width paving and provides a maximum weight of 13 740 kg (30,291 lb).

Cat Forest Products recently announced updates to the cab on the forest machine (FM) line, including the Cat^® 320D FM, 324D FM, 325D FM and the 330D FM. The machines can be configured to perform in any forestry application, including log loader, harvester/processor and road builder.

Caterpillar recently produced its 50,000th rigid-frame off-highway truck—a milestone achieved at the Decatur, Illinois, plant where such trucks have been produced since 1963. Number 50,000 is a 777F, a versatile 100-short-ton-capacity (91-metric-ton-capacity) truck that sees application in heavy construction, quarry and aggregates, and mining.

Schaeff-Terex  developed and launched a few years back a versatile, robust tunnel excavator to be used for demanding and efficient tunnel heading.   What is amazing is that this machine looks like the CAT one we tracked last march and competes against the likes of the Gradall XL5110.
